These guidelines protect you from scams, fraud, and unsafe situations — both online and in-person.

✅ 1. Meet in Safe, Public Locations

For Buyers

  • Always meet sellers in open, public, and well-populated areas.
  • Choose places with CCTV cameras, such as malls, fuel stations, or police-approved meeting points.
  • Avoid private homes, hidden locations, or being pressured into rushing.

For Sellers

  • Bring the car to a neutral meeting point, not your house.
  • If the buyer refuses to meet in public, consider it a red flag.

✅ 2. Verify Vehicle Documents Thoroughly

Before any payment or test drive, request to see:

  • Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC)
  • Roadworthy/Inspection certificate (if applicable)
  • Insurance documents
  • Owner’s valid ID
  • Chassis & engine numbers (ensure they match the car)

🔍 Tip: Take clear photos but never share your own sensitive documents until you confirm legitimacy.

✅ 3. Inspect the Vehicle Properly

For Buyers

  • Perform a full physical inspection during daytime.
  • Check mileage, tyres, bodywork, engine condition, electronics, and interior.
  • Bring a trusted mechanic if possible.
  • Request a test drive in a safe environment.

For Sellers

  • Be transparent about the car’s condition.
  • Provide genuine information to avoid disputes or fraud investigations.

✅ 4. Avoid Paying Before Confirmation

Never make upfront payments, deposits, or “transport fees” before:
✔ Meeting the seller
✔ Inspecting the car physically
✔ Confirming all documents

Use only trusted and traceable payment methods.

✅ 5. Protect Your Personal Information

Safe to share:

  • Phone number
  • Basic name
  • Meeting time and location

NOT safe to share:

🚫 Passport or national ID photos
🚫 Bank details
🚫 Home address
🚫 Personal workplace information
🚫 ATM PINs or codes

Bunch Base Motors will never request your PIN, OTP, or bank login.

✅ 6. Test Drive Safety Rules

For Buyers

  • Always test drive with the seller or a trusted mechanic present.
  • Keep your personal belongings safe.
  • Confirm the seller is the true owner or legally authorized.

For Sellers

  • Request a copy of the buyer’s driver’s license before handing over the keys.
  • Always join the buyer in the car during the test drive.
  • Never allow a test drive without the key documents or ID verification.

✅ 7. Agree on Price Clearly Before Payment

To avoid conflict:

  • Confirm the final selling price.
  • Agree on inclusions (insurance, servicing, accessories).
  • Put agreements in writing or chat so it’s traceable.

✅ 8. Use Secure Payment Methods

Recommended methods:
✔ Bank transfer (with confirmation)
✔ Mobile money wallets
✔ POS payment
✔ GU Pay (Bunch Base Motors’ recommended secure gateway)

Avoid:
🚫 Cash in hidden locations
🚫 Payment through third parties
🚫 “Give the money to my friend/agent” arrangements

✅ 9. Beware of Common Scams

Watch out for:

  • Sellers who rush you to pay.
  • Prices that are suspiciously low.
  • Foreign buyers/sellers who want shipping without meeting.
  • Fake receipts or fake “alerts”.
  • People who refuse to video call or verify identity.

While Bunch Base Motors is a marketplace and does not inspect or own any cars, we:

  • Remove suspicious listings
  • Educate buyers and sellers
  • Offer safe-trading guidelines
  • Provide verified dealership placement services
